TTOCT2 Round 2 Prologue Part 3: The meeting
Lewis had walked through the enchanted realm of Sarun, treading in what used to be the park. Once a simple luxurious park filled with grass, hills, and plains to play in, it was now filled with chaotic clusters of gems that were sprouting slowly from the ground. The gems were of various colors: yellow, red, blue, green orange, all would've been beautiful if it weren't destroying the park's already gorgeous state.
Lewis walked on what remained of the park's sidewalk as he watched several of the gems growing from the soil. He couldn't help but kick himself over being so foolish as to just run off without his team mates' consent. The strangest thing about it was that he didn't entirely understand why he did what he did. He just happened to see two kids having a fun time outside and he decided that he should go out there himself.
As the thought of the playing children came back to Lewis, he stopped his walk and just looked at the ground h

TTOCT Round 2 Prologue Part 2: Team Steam Junk
Meanwhile, in another region of Sarun, an android found himself preoccupied with chasing a clown through a lush field of yarn and living teddy bears. The android that chased the clown was incredibly skinny. So skinny, in fact, that if he were an actual human, one would probably be concerned about his health. His hair was red and frizzy, he wore a black jacket with a grey undershirt, and he held a fencing sword not unlike Mason's at his waist. The clown he chased after was plump, wore big spotted trousers, and had white make up on his face that had been partially wiped away by the tears falling down his cheeks. In his back pocket, uninflated balloons of various colors had been carelessly stuffed inside.
"Come oooooon!" The bot shouted enthusiastically at the clown, not tiring out in the slightest. "I just want you to make me a balloon sword." With that said, he took out his fencing sword from his waist and held it out for the clown to see. "You know! Like this, exce

TTOCT Round 2 Prologue Part 1: A Dream Come True
Mason ran down the hallway of the hotel as he headed for Lewis' room. He would've expected the kid to be awake by now, but assumed that since today's match started later than yesterday's, the kid may have decided to sleep in. While Mason could understand wanting extra rest, especially with how sleepless Lewis must be, why of all days did the kid have to rest when something like THIS would happen?
By the time Mason made it to Lewis' private hotel room, he stopped in his tracks, surprised at what he saw before him. Just outside of the room was C-13, sitting in the middle of the hallway. The robot was just staring at the ground as if he was sleeping himself. Mason raised his eyebrow at the machine inquisitively.  "...C-13?" Mason called out, tilting his head.
The robot almost immediately shot his head up and turned to Mason, his eyes glowing a surprised white. The moment he jerked his head, the gears in his neck let out an intense squeak of m

    "Now...FIGHT!!!" The announcer shouted.
The audience's cheers suddenly fell silent as they began to focus intently on our match, wondering who would make the first move.
I kept an eye on the Agency Trio, a drop of sweat slowly dribbling down my forehead. I particularly kept an eye on their team leader, John. After all, who knew what kind of cunning plan he had in--
"Oh let's just get this over with!" I suddenly heard him shout as he quickly took out a knife and ran straight for me.
John didn't waste any time. Before I could even react he appeared right in front of me, ready to thrust with his knife. I flinched, thinking I was going to be stabbed, when right at that moment, C-13 intercepted John and grabbed his arm.
"Wh-what the...?!" John yelled as he struggled to break free from C-13's grasped.
I just stared in awe as C-13's eyes slowly turned red. He pulled John close

TTOCT Round 1 Prologue: The Task at Hand
On the day of the tournament, we made our way from our hotel to the arena, which was just a bit down the street. It was a rather lively day in Sarun. Hundreds of people were bustling about, most of them probably heading for the arena like my team and I were. I still couldn't get over how...medieval and primitive the architecture appeared to be. Surely a place with such advanced teleportation technology would be able to have at least SOME similar qualities in architect as that of Clevis.
From the time Mason, C-13, and I spent in Sarun, I went around asking the residents about the technology behind the portal that brought us here. All their answers were the same: magic. I couldn't help but feel like this was all some scheme to drive me mad. "Magic indeed..." I thought. "There's no such thing as magic! Clearly the people of this kingdom are horribly confused."
As the three of us passed by the market, I observed the merchants who

The statue, once being a magnificent dedication to all things children love, was now nothing more than fragments of rock, only somewhat resembling what it once was due to the chaos the clown head dealt in its fall. Mason did his best to let his feet fall on any foothold as he climbed down. Eventually, once he was close enough to the ground to jump down, he leaped off the hunk of rock, landed on the concrete, and strolled on over to Austere. C-13 and Lewis, looking at each other for a brief second, joined Mason as he went to meet with his fallen opponent.

Austere was still struggling with his leg, hitting at the hunk of earth that still pinned it down. Eventually, with a loud groan, he fell back with his arms sprawling out. As he lay there, he looked at the sky, his eyes eventually shifting to Mason who stood above him.

Mason, kneeling down to the bot below him, gave an amused smirk. "I guess this means I win, huh?" His fits of stress and irritation had now been masked once again under his calm exterior.

The bot just stared at him with a look of contempt before closing his eyes and letting out yet another groan of disappointment. "...Fine...you win."

"...Thank you..." He then stood back up and looked at the big clown head in front of him. His sight then shifted to Zee and Sven with a look of what might appear to be concern. "So...do you need any help or...?"

Zee shrugged, putting her hands on her hips as she gazed wearily at the gigantic statue. "We tried moving the head, but it's far too heavy to budge." She scratched the back of her head as she moved her line of sight toward Austere on the ground. "...Guess we'll just have to cut the leg off."

Lewis didn't spare a moment's hesitation once he heard those words come out of her mouth. "Whoa, what?! Cut his leg off?! How can you be so casual about that?!"

Zee turned to the young teenager, a hint of irritation obvious in her eyes, but then that sign of annoyance melted away as she let out a somewhat understanding sigh. "Don't have a heart attack, he's a robot. He won't miss it."

Both C-13 and Lewis, not having known this already, were taken aback by this new fragment of information. "He's a machine?!" He looked between Austere and C-13, picking out the obvious differences between them. "B-but...! He looks like a--"

Zee shook her head. "Yeah, this is going nowhere. Lemme go get something to chop the leg off with."

Austere gave Zee a jovial laugh. "Aww, you want to cut my leg off, Zee? You really do love me!"

"Shut up." Zee spit out as she started to walk off to get an axe of some kind.

"W-wait..." C-13 suddenly raised his hand, prompting Zee to stop walking and look back at him. "I'm a very strong robot, I could probably move it!" He walked over to the giant clown head and began struggling against it.

Austere rolled his eyes at the robot's struggles. "Yeah right. It'd take a miracle for someone to move that--" He was almost immediately cut off as the giant clown head slowly rolled off of his apparently crushed leg. "...Well hallelujah."

Zee, startled by this sudden feat of strength, ran over and kneeled next to Austere, looking at his severely damaged leg. "Hmm...still needs to be replaced, but that clown head being gone definitely makes things easier." She looked up to the giant robot and gave him an approving nod of gratitude before standing back up and looking at Sven. "Sven, carry him."

Sven was surprised at the mention of his name. "Huh? Why me?"

Zee pointed to his arms. "You're the one with the metal arms. His generator's busted, but I'm still not risking it."

Sven sighed. "Okay..." He walked over to Austere and picked him up in his arms.

Austere grinned at the boy. "Aww, now you're willing to carry me! It's really as if we're on a honeymoon! You know, it's funny. I think while I was chasing that clown I actually saw a prince and princess on a honeymoon! Also, I think they were--"

C-13, Mason and Lewis watched the three walk away as Austere's blabbering went on and on, eventually drowning out in the sounds of party poppers as they were too far to see. "Huh..." Mason said with a hint of reflection. "They're certainly an odd trio, eh?"

"...Yeah..." Lewis nodded before snapping out in his trance and looking at his tutor. "Oh! Mason, you were amazing!"

Mason turned his head toward Lewis, his eyes widening a bit at the genuine compliment he was given. "Um...thanks." He rubbed the bridge of his nose in an attempt to hide his surprise. His showing of gratitude, however, wasn't enough for Lewis as he continued.

"I knew you could fight, considering that invitation you got, but where'd you learn to fight like that?!"

C-13 looked at Mason with a suspiciously red glow in his eyes. "...That's a good question." He crossed his arms as he looked at Mason with obvious contempt. "Where did you learn that?"

Mason looked over C-13 for a second before smiling politely. "My parents just gave me fencing and acrobatic lessens as a kid is all."

C-13 just stared at him without any hint of belief in his demeanor. "Fencing lessons taught you how to tip over a giant clown head?"

"...It was at a time that King Clever still ruled over Clevis with an iron fist. It was very intense training."

C-13 looked over him one more time before nodding, though still not entirely convinced. "...I see." He looked at Lewis, who was clearly uncomfortable toward the tension between his team mates. "So, Lewis. You said you wanted to go back to your hotel room?"

The thought suddenly struck Lewis like a train. He was so wrapped up in the tension of what was happening between Mason and Austere that he had completely forgot about the notebook. "Oh shoot! That's right!" He turned away from C-13 and began running toward the hotel room. Sarun may have transformed into a child's paradise, but he knew well enough where the hotel was.

C-13 started to follow after him, but stopped and turned to Mason, who didn't seem to be budging from his spot. "Aren't you coming?"

Mason shrugged. "It's been a rather long day. I think I'm going to relax for a little bit, perhaps see if there's a restroom nearby."

C-13 eyed him suspiciously before walking away.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Mason had been walking for quite a while throughout the chaotic realm that was Sarun, it must've been at least an hour. He found it to be the right course of action to make sure there weren't any flies on the wall who could listen in on him as he did his work. Eventually, he hid beneath a shadowy area toward the back of Sarun's arena which now has been transformed into a gigantic ball pit.

Leaning back against the wall with a sigh, Mason reached into his pocket and pulled out a notebook he had found when searching through Lewis' hotel room. Without a moment's delay, Mason began searching through the notes that Lewis had written down, and was somewhat appauled at what he was reading. "I see..." He said to himself grumbling. "...That Allister doesn't fail to surprise me with his underhandedness..."

"He is a tricky guy to be sure." Said a sudden voice that came from nowhere. The sound of this voice prompted Mason to immediately pull out a dagger to aim at the person who was apparently eavesdropping. He couldn't help but lower his knife a bit upon seeing the true identity of this apparent stalker, C-13.

"...C-13?" Mason said with surprise before getting back into a cautious fighting stance. "How did you follow me without me spotting you...?"

C-13 crossed his arms with a huff and cocked his head toward a parade that was passing by the arena. "Despite being big and loud, hiding behind a crowd can do a good job of covering for that...so..." the bot stepped forward, not at all feeling threatened by Mason's fighting stance. "...I take it you're working to overthrow Allister?" His voice had a tone of not necessarily malice, but certainly not that of passiveness.

Mason knew well that more suspicion would be drawn toward his actions if he denied flat-out his purpose. "...So what if I am?"

C-13 let his arms limply fall to his sides as he sighed. He then put his hands on his 'hips' as he looked Mason dead in the eye. "...Mason, I want to be perfectly clear...I don't like Allister."

"...Eh?" Mason inquired, lowering his weapon only slightly.

"...He shut me down...threw me deep into the bowels of the Grand Tower, without having the decency to simply tear me apart. It was almost as if he wanted me to suffer...until Lewis came along and found me..." C-13 was looking toward the sky, seeming pleased at the thought of Lewis, but then his eyes turned into a grey grimace as he set his sights back on Mason. "So I want you to know that...I'm not going to rat you out. Hell, if anything, I hope you succeed...but I want to make one thing clear..." The robot then, without warning, smacked the dagger out of Mason's hand, grabbed him by the collar, and pulled him up to eye level. Mason got a good clear look into the optics of the gigantic robot. They were a burning red. "...If you do anything to harm Lewis...death isn't a mercy I'll grant you..."

Having said that, C-13 carelessly dropped Mason to the ground, a puff of dirt exploding upward upon his impact with the ground. Now that he said his piece, the robot simply walked away from Mason, heading back to the hotel to meet with Lewis. All Mason could do was lift himself from the ground, watching C-13 walk away

Austere gave a grin at Mason's comment and, without hesitation, thrusted forth with his blade in hand, giving almost no thought to the idea that Mason could attack him back. Of course, the bot was way too fast for Mason to counterattack, so he did his best to back away from the bot, only to have a slight scratch put in on his right forearm. Mason, after taking some distance from the bot felt the wound he just received and found that he was bleeding only slightly.

Mason couldn't help but cock a grin at the bot's cocky attitude. "Very well done." Mason said as he covered the wound in his arm. "You clearly know what you're doing with that sword, but..." With that said, Mason quickly heel turned and ran the other direction.

Austere's proud grin immediately turned into a confused frown as he saw his opponent run. "Wha?! Why are you running?! Are you ignoring me?!" Sheathing the sword onto his hip, he began giving chase after Mason. "Stop! Notice me!"

Meanwhile, the confused onlookers comprised of Lewis, C-13, Zee, and Sven all looked at each other with surprised looks as the other two ran away. The first to give chase after them was Sven, followed by Zee. Lewis then went after them, making sure he didn't lose track of Mason, which, of course, made C-13 have to follow as well.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As Mason ran from his opponent, he made sure to keep tabs on how fast the bot was going. He didn't realize that Austere was a robot just yet, which made it surprising how much stamina he apparently had. Desperate to keep his distance, Mason, without warning, took a sharp turn at an alley filled with jungle vines, no doubt good for climbing. He took this to heart as he jumped onto one of the lower vines with his right foot, and grabbed a higher vine with his left. Using all his upper-body strength, he pulled himself up onto the next vine. He did his best to avoid the more moist and slippery ones, as it could risk him falling back to the ground.

Once he made it to the top of a building next to the alley, he looked back down, surprised to see Austere already climbing. "You have quite a bit of stamina for someone so skinny!" Mason shouted at him from up high with an almost amused look on his face.

As the bot climbed, he let out a jovial laugh at his remark. "You've got quite a bit of stamina for someone so fat!"

Mason's smile turned to a frown at Austere's comment as he stood back up and took out his sword. "...Yeah, I don't care for you." With that said, Mason used his sword to cut the vines at the very top of the alleyway, cutting off a much shorter path for Austere and even cutting one of the vines he was holding onto as he climbed, causing the bot to fall back down to the ground. "Oof!" Austere said as he hit the hard, muddy floor. He quickly moved to stand back up and, once he straightened, up, he looked back up at Mason with a disapproving frown. "Hey! No fair!"

Mason chuckled and shrugged at his opponent. "You were the one who attacked Lewis before I even came. Karma." With that Mason turned and ran across the building, jumping over other alleyways to the roofs of other structures.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

By the time Zee and Sven made it to the alleyway, Mason was already jumping from building to building. Austere, however, was still on ground level, running alongside the buildings as he tried to keep his eyes on Mason.

"Austere!" Sven shouted out to him.

Austere didn't pay him much mind as he was more focused on Mason. "WHAT?!" he shouted back.

Sven pointed to the side of the building. "That wall's made of fudge!"

Austere stopped for a quick moment and looked back at Sven, then at the wall. The wall was brown and brittle, if someone was focused on something else, they probably wouldn't have immediately noticed the substance it was made of. Sure enough, as Austere stepped forward and punched his hand into the wall, it easily went into it, brittle chunks of fudge coming out as he did so. "Well..." the bot said as a grin formed on his face. "That makes things easier!" With that he dug his feet into the fudge and started scaling the wall, diggin his hands into it like an ice pick into a mountain.

As Zee and Sven watched their team mate climb, Lewis and C-13 weren't too far behind. They were, at the very least, close enough to them to hear what was going on. "Isn't...that...cheating...?" Lewis asked with exasperated pants.

Zee turned to the young man, giving him a confused look. "You mean shouting at Austere? Shouldn't be." She looked up, watching Austere as he made it to the top of the building. "The rules didn't say anything about shouting."

"...Really?" Lewis said surprised, looking up at the path that was made along the side of the wall with a hint of interest. He preceded to run about the side of the building, trying to see if he could spot where Mason and Austere were at the top of the building. The young teenager could hear the loud stomps of C-13 chasing after him, but he was too focused on the battle to draw his attention toward the robot.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Mason was several buildings away by now, knowing full well that Austere must've been finding his way up by now. Sadly, there were no more buildings for Mason to jump on over to, so for now he had to figure out how he could fight this 'Austere' fellow. From what he could tell, it would be near impossible to tire him out, given how far he was able to chase him without a hint of slowing down. It was easy to tell from the vine-climbing incident from earlier, however, that this opponent was particularly easy to outsmart. Not to mention that he appeared to be excited to a fault. He didn't think things through and as a result he can become sloppy.

"That's it...make him sloppy." Mason thought to himself as he finally saw Austere managing to get to the top of the roof. Austere was looking in every which direction to pin down where his opponent was. Mason didn't want to lose sight of him, so he decided to call him over. "Hey! Over here!"

Austere, jumped a bit at the sound of Mason's voice and immediately turned to lock eyes with him from a distance. Despite how far away Austere was, Mason could easily see the big grin that spread across the bot's face as he began running over, hopping over gaps between the building.

The calm swordsman watched as his opponent came running after him. In a bit of a panic, he looked over the edge of the roof he was standing on to see an alleyway that was filled with an unhealthy amount of syrup. Much to Mason's dismay, he might just want to jump in if he needs a good getaway.

His train of thought was soon interrupted by the sound of a small thud on the sugarcoated roof top that he was standing on. Slowly, he turned to see Austere who gave back a wide grin, clearly pleased with himself at managing to catch up with his opponent. "Well that''s lucky!" He said excitedly. "I never would've thought that you'd be defeated by a dead end!"

Mason kept his hand at his waste, ready to pull out his sword when he needed to. "I mean, I can't exactly fly." he said back jokingly, trying his best to stall and possibly build up as much impatience in Austere as possible. "I mean, you must be such a talented person to be able to scale a wall all by yourself!"

Austere scratched the back of his head, pleased with this compliment as he began stepping toward him. "Yeah, well, fudge is a pretty easy thing for a bot like me to climb, so."

As Mason thought, the bot was the type to be flattered by compliments. As such he got some useful information out of it. "Oh, you're a bot are you? That's rather odd." He probably should've taken Austere's inability to tire out as a hint of his true nature. As a man who studied robotics in the past for his job as a tutor, he knew that there must've been some form of generator inside of the bot that gave him this seemingly endless amount of energy.

"Well!" Austere pulled out his sword with a huff. "I think it's a charming character trait! HAVE AT YOU!!!" Saying that, he leaped out at the middle-aged man without warning.

Mason, taken off-guard by this sudden action, took out his sword just in time to intercept his opponent's blade. Austere didn't let up, however, as he continued trying to strike him with his blade. Mason continued to defend himself from these attacks, but was running low on stamina as he was pushed against the edge of the rooftop. Pushing against his blade, Austere let out a triumphant laugh. "Ha! That all you got?!"

"Not quite." Mason said as he cocked a bit of a grin. Having said that, he quickly laid back against the rim, shooting his legs up and pushing them out against Austere's torso, the momentum pushing him back into the syrup-filled alley. Mason was sure that his opponent reacted to this sudden attack, but didn't have the time to see as he suddenly found himself engulfed deeply within the thick pool of syrup. He tried his best to push his way out of the delicious pond of death, until he was finally able to get his head out of the slimy liquid. He took in a deep breathe, but was soon shoved back under as a heavy object suddenly fell down on top of him.

"It must've been Austere." Mason thought to himself. After else, it wasn't like there was anyone else who could've possibly fallen from the top of that building. Mason swam as fast he could out from under the large mass, desperate to get out of the thick goo. Eventually he managed to pull himself out of the syrupy alley and fell out onto a street. He didn't waste any time in getting back up on his feet. He was exhausted, but not enough to forget about the psychotic android behind him. He turned to see that Austere, too, managed to get out of the large mass of syrup, licking his lips to take in the delicious substance.

"Mmm!" He heard the bot exclaim. "That's some good stuff!" The bot looked to see Mason in front of him. "Okay, now I got you!" With that he went to grab his weapon and pulled it out. Much to Mason's surprise, rather than the blade he's been fighting with before, he was now holding what appeared to be a sword made of balloons.

"...Um...well that is my sword...in a way." Austere said curiously looking at the sword as Mason just stared at him with utter disbelief. "...Well...GOOD ENOUGH!!!" He ran out at full force, hitting Mason repeatedly with the balloon sword...it was mildly annoying. "Yeah! How's that feeling, eh? Not good I imagine!"

Mason couldn't believe what was happening at this very moment, all he could do was just stare at Austere with irritation and...pity. "...Are you serious?" Without even flinching, he took out his own sword and immediately popped the balloon one.

Austere looked at the remains of the balloons sword as the torn rubber floated to the ground. His knees trembling, he fell to the ground, mourning the loss of his recently received toy. "N-NOOOOOOOOOO!!!" He clutched desperately at the remains of the balloon, tempted to cry as he trembled over what was once a potential source of fun for him.

Mason, meanwhile, just stared down at the bot with a blank expression. "...It's a ****ing balloon."

Gripping the rubber tightly in his hands, Austere looked up at Mason with furious eyes. "Now...it's personal!" With that he stood back up on his two feet and pulled out his real sword, running at him as fast as he could, only to be tripped by sticky syrup that he found was still stuck to his foot. "Gyah!" He yelled as he it the floor and immediately tried to get it off.

Mason took this chance to keep his distance. As he ran away from the bot that was scrambling on the ground, he looked around to get his bearings on what kind of place he found himself in. Evidently, it turned out that he was already outside the sweet, candy-like part of Sarun and was, instead, in a more rustic looking place. His feet were hitting against a concrete ground that laid between several small shacks that were labelled as 'funhouses'. All of these shacks surrounded what appeared to be one gigantic cul-de-sac, with a huge statue of a clown being at the center.

Mason heard a shout from behind him, and found that Austere was now out of the syrup completely, now running at him at full force. Not having much time to think, the middle-aged swordsman ran toward the statue of the clown and began climbing it. Thankfully, due to his training back in Clevis' underground, he was a rather good climber. It didn't take long before he got to the knee of the clown.

Once he got to that point of the statue, Mason looked down to see that Austere was already climbing up the foot after him. "This is perfect!" he thought to himself. "I got him emotionally unstable!" He then continued his climb up the statue. He had to make sure that he was able to grab a for any jagged hunks of earth that happened to be sticking out of the clown. Eventually, he managed to make it to the shoulders, which were broad enough for him to walk on.

Finally having a place to stand, Mason looked back down Austere to find that he still had a good bit to go before he could make it to the top of the shoulders. "Good..." Mason thought to himself. He had already been thinking of a plan to take down Austere as he was climbing the clown. He looked over to the clown's head, seeing that the neck that held it up was a bit unstable. This head could perhaps be the perfect weapon to take down his opponent.

Without a minute to waste, Mason quickly got behind the clown head and began picking at the neck with his sword. Thankfully, due to the neck's already brittle nature, it didn't take long for the stone to fall apart. Once Mason managed to pick away a good amount of the back of the clowns neck, he stabbed his sword into the crevice he created and began using it as leverage to tip the clown head over.

Austere, meanwhile, was only at the torso as he noticed that the clown head began moving. "...What the...?" By the time he realized what was going on, it was too late. Mason managed to tip the clown head over far enough to let gravity finished the job, and it began falling down toward Austere. "Crapcrapcrapcrap" he could be heard shouting as he tried jumping off of the statue. By the time Lewis, C-13, Zee, and Sven had made it to the site, the clown head had already impacted the ground with a loud boom.

I was born in Florida and moved to Kansas when I was 4 years old. Growing up wanting to be appreciated by others, I studied hard in school to get good grades (at the cost of academic anxiety), and was hoping to become a physicist. However, as I went through high school, I found that my interest began to shift toward chemistry, philosophy, and writing....Yeah, that's pretty much the basics of my life story XP

Ryno, I had a dream about Allister last night. He was very in character. He also hated magic and had three children who he hated because they were magical. It was a wild ride.
